My first week in TY in St.Wolstans has nearly come to a close. I arrived not really knowing where to go the feeling of being in first year slowly crept back. The sense of nervousness to find out if you will be in your friends classes was daunting. But the outcome was extremely good! Ty is an excellent year to get away from the normal way of studying subjects and to get a different route into learning about each individual subject which you wouldn't get in any other year. I can see my Ty experience being extremely fun and eventful. i cant wait to get to know everyone alot better! The Ty class names are very creative and sweet each of the three classes are named after Disney princesses.
Yesterday we had three separate workshops through out the day. Each of these were very different to the other. The first work shop was a workshop on etiquette. This workshop featured areas on deportment, embracing your own body shape, hand and nail care and a little game to help everyone in the class to become closer. In the deportment area we learned how to walk normally and in high heels. The fun part was that the carpet we had to walk on was red and it gave you the feeling of being on a red carpet and strutting your stuff to the music in the back ground. In the area of embracing your body shape they showed all different body types and how each body is beautiful and not to be scared or embarrassed about the shape of your body. This was a real confidence giver to all of our class which was fantastic! At the end of the workshop as a treat we got to use a lovely hand wash to exfoliate our hands with. It was lovely.
The next workshop was Positive Parties. This was all about having fun and how not to let anyone else bring you down and how to stop over thinking stuff. It was a fantastic experience and thought us how to stay positive which is always helpful!
The last one of the day was all about first aid. They thought us a wide range of stuff and what to do in certain situations. They also thought us how to give CPR and the Heimlich maneuver. We also were thought what to do when someone has an epileptic fit and the two different types of epilepsy. We learned a wide range of different first aid techniques!
I am now excited for the rest of my Ty year and also to receive my junior certificate results next Wednesday.
